It serves as the main hub for the Pegasus Airlines, Turkish Airlines and AnadojuJet. It is one of the two international airports that serve Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey. It is the secondary base for the currently suspended Borajet and the Turkish Airlines. The airport was named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. She was the very first female who became a fighter pilot.
