Best Time to Visit
This public airport was constructed in the year 1947, done by the Atomic Energy Commission under the governance of Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. The Facility was transferred to the government in 2008. It covers 36 hectares of land, with an above mean sea level elevation of 7,171 feet. The LAM-Los Alamos County Airport has only one asphalt-made runway that measured 6,000 feet. It has been known to pilots landing to this airfield as very challenging, as the location where they land usually gets a gusty crosswind because of the landing area purposefully located opposite the residential area, as well as being at a difficult terrain at the end of the runway. Albuquerque is one of the nearby cities to which passengers can tour around at the Sandia Peak Tramway. Other nearby cities to visit include Isleta Pueblo, Rio Rancho, Mesa Del Sol, Corrales and Algodones.
