Lainate: Skipping Milan The Metropolitan
Lainate, Italy is a charming town less than 30 minutes away from Milan. There is not much to see in town but its close proximity to one of the country’s most visited cities makes it a destination. Lainate serves as a rest stop for those getting tired of the city life and wanting to escape the huge crowds of tourists. It is about half an hour away from both Malpensa International Airport (MXP) and Milan Linate Airport (LIN).
Best Time to Visit
It is during the middle of the year when it is the warmest and there is plenty of sunshine in Lainate, Italy. However, it is also ideal to come during April, May, September, or October especially when you want to avoid the high tourist season. These months also have fairly comfortable weather for you to enjoy. One of the famous festivals in Milan, Oh Bej! Oh Bej!, is held every December so you might be interested to check that one out.
What to Do & Area Attractions
As aforementioned, there is rarely sights at Lainate but it is located just several minutes from many attractions. The Morimondo Abbey, an impressive Gothic monastery, is a mere 40-minute drive from the town proper. Much nearer, you will find the Palazzo Marino, which has stood since the 16th century and served once as Milan’s city hall. You can also check out the nearby Milan Convention Center where you may find events and exhibitions being held during your visit.
Though there are not many attractions in the town itself, there are at least outstanding Lainate hotels. These include Hotel Litta Palace and Golf Hotel, both providing spas and swimming pools to its lovely guests.
