Coventry Airport – CVT
The Coventry Airport is located and serves the city of Coventry, England. In the early 1930s, it was known as Baginton Aerodome, wherein it served only general aviation and freight services and as well as an airfield during the World War II. On May 30, 1982 then Pope John Paul II visited and held a Eucharistic mass at the CVT – Coventry Airport. Problems arose during the years of 2007 to 2009, especially with expansion plans, thus leading to its closing. However, a year later, it was officially opened as a commercial service airport again.
Best Time to Visit
One passenger terminal, that is now abandoned, and one runway consist of Coventry Airport. Its re-opening last 2010 was not as successful as they imagined. It is reported that the airport have been undergoing transition since 2017, from being a commercial airport to becoming a general aviation aerodome. The CVT – Coventry Airport authorities have made it clear that they will now be focusing on business aviation and freight services only. Clent and Exhall are some of the cities you can visit upon arriving the airport.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Within 15 to 20 minutes away from the Coventry Airport (CVT) are many exceptional hotels and accommodations. These include the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Coventry, the 4-star Coombe Abbey Hotel, and the Village Hotel Coventry. None of these accommodations unfortunately provide either free or paid airport shuttle services. The latter, however, has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool that the guests will absolutely adore.
