Birmingham Airport – BHX Birmingham
Birmingham Airport is an international airport 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) east-southeast of Birmingham, north of Bickenhill in Solihull, England. Formerly Elmdon Airport then Birmingham International Airport, it is the seventh busiest in the United Kingdom. It offers domestic flights within the UK, as well as international ones to destinations in North America, Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and the Caribbean.
Best Time to Visit
There are two interconnecting terminals at BHX-Birmingham Airport. Terminal 1 opened on April 3rd of 1984 and has since undergone several expansions to accommodate increase in passenger numbers and aircraft movements. It currently has 28 of Birmingham Airport’s 48 departure gates, namely 40-68. Gates 1-20 are found at the newer Terminal 2, which opened in 1991. This terminal is also known as Eurohub, with European carriers like Air France, KLM, and BMI moving here from Terminal 1 to utilize the hub and spoke model of air transport. Between Terminals 1 and 2 stands the Millennium Link Building which was constructed in 2000and houses shops, service counters, and restaurants. Solihull, Meriden, and Coventry are all within 10 miles of Birmingham Airport.

The closest hotel to the airport’s departure and arrival areas is Novotel Birmingham Airport, which is just a minute’s walk from the airport, two minutes from the airport’s free SkyRail service, and 15 minutes from trains to the city centre. Aside from the Birmingham Airport, the Coventry Airport (CVT) serves the whole region.
