It is part of the Atyrau region, which stands along the mouth of the Ural River. Many may not register this town, as it was previously known as Guryev until 1991. Majority of the inhabitants of the city are Russian and eastern European descent. This urban town is more known to business people than tourists because of its oil and gas industries, but nevertheless, the harbor city is filled with wonders. When in town, do not miss out the Manjali Mosque. It is opento public mosque, which is the center of religion in town. The design is also detailed and outstanding. Just across the river, the Atyrau National History Museum provides a glimpse of the proud beginnings of the city so as its journey. It’s good to check out when in town.
