Best Time to Visit
Visalia Municipal Airport finished construction in 1927. It was then taken over by the U.S. Department of War, where it briefly became the Visalia Army Air Field where it served as a training ground for a variety of specialized military aircraft. Leases with the U.S. Department of War were terminated in 1946, allowing ownership to return to the city and the airport to cater to civilians once more. Visalia Municipal Airport briefly appeared in the 1933 American comedy “Son in Law”, directed by Steve Rash. Some of the cities and areas near the airport include Sierra Sky Park, Lemon Cove, and Corcoran City, approximately 43 minutes away.
