Pingtung Airport – PIF Pingtung
Founded in 1994, Pingtung Airport, Pingtung, Taiwan (PIF) was constructed at the old art exhibit hall of the Pingtung Culture Center. The northern terminal was dedicated for public use while the southern terminal was used as a Republic of China Air Force base.
Best Time to Visit
The northern part of Pingtung Airport has an 8,000-foot long runway while the southern part has a 7,828-foot long runway. The Ministry of National Defense operated the latter. The airport is home to the 20th Electronic Warfare Group, 2nd Early Warning Squadron and 6th Electronic Warfare Squadron; and the 10th Tactical Airlift Group. In 2011, it completely ceased its public operations. Popular cities nearby include Haiduan, Linyuan, and Xiaogang.
