Miyun: A Quiet Travel Destination in Northeastern China
The town of Miyun, found in the district of the same name, is under the municipality of Beijing. It is divided into 37 other communities and 10 villages, with a total population of around 6,800. Travelers to Miyun, China can arrive at two of the airfields serving Beijing, the Capital International Airport (PEK), located in the Shunyi District, and Nanyuan Airport (NAY), situated in the district of Fengtai. While you can find hotels and inns around these airports, there are also several ones located in the city center.
Best Time to Visit
Miyun’s location makes it ideal destination months between late March and early June and late August and early November. However, these months also happen to be the busiest dates for tourism, as well, making most of Miyun, China hotels and airfare more expensive than usual. The tourist population tends to die down in the fall season, starting from September, before rising again come January.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Because of the city’s strategic location, reaching the top tourist attractions in the area is a breeze. You can easily drop by the Beijing Mail Museum, the Beijing Shengmi E’er Catholic Church, and the Beijing Police Museum, all within around an hour or two’s drive. If you’re staying overnight in Miyun, you can look for suites at Greentree Inn Beijing Miyun Xinzhong Street Business Hotel, and In Nature Gubei Hotel. They are conveniently located a few miles away from the city center and offer cheap breakfast and spacious rooms.
