Jinan, Exploring the Heritage and Culture of the Spring City
Serving as Shandong province’s capital, Jinan, China is home to more than six million residents and 72 artesian springs. This is the primary reason why the city was named “Spring City.” Reach the city by plane and land at the Jinan International Airport. Best Time to Visit
Jinan experiences beautiful weather for most of the year, although the winter weeks can be pretty cold. If you’re visiting the city for the festivities, you can book your trip in September during the city’s Temple Fair. The event is celebrated at the Thousand Buddha Mountains where the locals enjoy the blossom of the chrysanthemums and buy persimmons as well. September is relatively rainy though, and tourism is also at its busiest. During this month, most of Jinan, China hotels are booked and expensive. If you’re coming in December you can avail of discounted hotel rates as it is the least busy month of the year.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Spend a relaxing morning at the Daming Lake, the city’s biggest lake,and Baotu Spring, the city’s artesian karst spring, both of which are significant cultural landmarks of the city. Make sure to hike up the Thousand Buddha Mountain too, which is located on the southern tip of Jinan and houses plenty of Buddha images. Book your rooms at one of the fancy hotels around, some of which are the Sofitel Jinan Silver Plaza, the Sheraton Jinan Hotel, and the nearby 5-star InterContinental Jinan City Center.
