The Contemporary Arts Center is an arts center situated in the historic downtown district of New Orleans, Louisiana. The center was established in 1976 and hosts events and performances ranging from the visual arts to concert performances and lectures. A multidisciplinary arts center, the CAC is committed to exhibit, create, and encourage artists to promote knowledge and understanding of its unique skill. Proactive local and regional leadership is demonstrated by educating children and adults, developing and increasing audiences, and promoting and facilitating cooperation among various artists, organizations, societies, and supporters.
The Contemporary Arts Center continues to be engaged in the visual and performing arts and arts literacy communities, promoting an age of artistic freedom and multidisciplinary expression. Currently, the center is home to groundbreaking works by artists in painting, theater, photography, performing arts, dance, music, film, education, and sculpture.
