Choeung Ek Genocidal Center, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Choeung Ek Genocidal Center is a former orchard and a burial yard of the victims of the Communist Party of Kampuchea. Historically, it is known as one of “The Killing Fields” where massive Cambodians where killed between 1975 – 1979 under the Khmer Rouge regime. The remains of the tragic mass killing were found in Cambodia. When the Khmer Regime has come to an end, this mass grave was discovered that contains 8,895 bodies. These dead bodies compose of those political prisoners held by the regime in the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum that serves as a security prison during that time
