Batman: A Town Built by Oil
The Urban town of Batman is located in the Southeastern part of the region of Anatolia in Turkey. Batman, TR is the capital of the Batman district. The prosperous town of Batman, TR was previously known as Iluh. It was just a small village back in 1940s but it latter prospers as the largest oil field near the city was discovered. Aside from being the largest producing city, Batman, TR is also rich in history as it was one of the earliest settlements near the Tigris River that has prospered up to the present. Over the span of 50 years, large-scale developments have been made in Batman, TR including new airport such as the Batman Airport (BAL) and the Siirit Airport (SXZ).
Best Time to Visit
Batmen, TR together with the whole of Turkey celebrates the annual Kurban Bayram or the Festival of Sacrifice in December. Many devotees visit the town for this event. Some cultural tourists also come to town as it is the best time to observe the 4 days length festivals.
What to Do & Area Attractions
The homey town, has a Bahar Cultural Center where tourists and guests are welcome to experience a local worship. For cultural experience, this place should not be left out. Another way to experience the town is to see the Mayis Stadium. It is where most football games are held. Hotels are abundant in the city and not a problem when in town. There are upscale hotels like the Hotel Izgi Turhan and Grand Hasankeyf, which are conveniently located in the city center.
