Stockholm Arlanda Airport - ARN
Serving the towns of Stockholm and Uppsala, Stockholm Arlanda Airport goes by the code ARN. This international airport is strategically situated in the municipality of Sigtuna, about 23 miles from Stockholm, Sweden. It is considered the biggest among the airports in the country and the third-biggest in the Nordic countries. The airport was already operational in 1959, but it wasn’t until 1962 when the field was opened to commercial flights. Its name came from Arland, the old name for Arlinghundra, the parish upon which the airport is built.
Best Time to Visit
Being the gateway to the major cities in the country, Arlanda Airport caters to no less than 21 million international passengers and 5.5 million domestic passengers in 2017 alone. It features three runways, where Runway 1 and 3 can be used for simultaneous landings and take-offs. There are also four terminals in the airport, two of which are for international passengers. If you’re flying into Sweden via the Arland Airport, make sure to drop by the towns of Marsta, Lidingo, and Inverness.
What to Do & Area Attractions
As for accommodations, there are a handful of options near the airports. Some of these are the Clarion Hotel Arlanda Airport, the Best Western Arlanda Hotellby, and the Connect Hotel Arlanda, all within five kilometers from Arlanda Airport and offer airport transfers to their guests.
The nearby Bromma Airport (BMA), located on the northwestern part of the city, is much smaller compared to Arlanda Airport and is primarily used by smaller aircraft.
