Yichun – The Forest Capital of China
Yichun, China is located in the Heilongjiang province and is the sixth largest city in the province. What is unique about Yichun is that the city sits in a vast forest inside Xiaoxinganling hills, making the city have the highest forest coverage rate in all of China. Because of this, the city is nicknamed Lindu, which literally translates to “forest capital”. The city also has the largest Korean Pine forest in the whole of Asia that is also best protected among other countries. The city sits across Russia, separated by the Amur River and an international border that measures 153 miles. Many of the attractions in the city are centered around the lush forest. To get to Yichun, travelers can land at the Yichun Lindu Airport (LDS), the city’s airport only 6 minutes away from the city center.
Best Time to Visit
The changing scenery of the forest during the different seasons make Yichun a popular destination to visit whatever the time of the year. Summer is great for exploring the forest and in autumn, the changing leaves is a stunning treat to the eyes. The snow-covered forest in winter, meanwhile, is one of the most beautiful scenes to witness in China. In fact, there is even a Winter Photography Festival held every January as a testament to the beauty of the forest during this season.
What to Do & Area Attractions
First time visitors to Yichun will not regret visiting the First Draftage of Lesser Khingan Range. The Lesser Khingan Range has many mountains that have been developed as tourist attractions. Here, travelers can enjoy the view as well as the beautiful plants that flourish in the mountains. Other beautiful and natural attractions in the city are the Yutuxiantan Pond and Huilong Bay of Meixi. It’s easy to find good places to stay in while in Yuchin. One is the Xinhao Business Hotel, which is well known among locals so getting directions is easy. It is also only a few minutes’ drive to the many attractions of the city. The Ausotel Xilou Yichun is also a great hotel to stay in as it is conveniently located on the city’s main road.
