Xi'an Xianyang International Airport – XIY Xianyang
The Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is the main airport that serves Xi’an, China, the largest and the capital city of Shaanxi Province, Guanzhong. It is located 41 kilometers northwest of Xi’an city centre, and 13 kilometers northeast of Xianyang. It is the largest and busiest airport in Northwest China, the second largest in Northern China, and the seventh busiest nationwide, with over 44,650,000 passengers moving through it in 2018.
Best Time to Visit
XIY-Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has two concrete runways. The older runway, 05L/23R is 9,843 feet (3,000 meters) long. The newer 05R/23L, opened on the 3rd of May 2012, is 12,467 feet (3,800 meters) long and large enough to handle the Airbus A380. XIY airport has three terminals. Terminal 1 hosts seasonal charter flights and domestic routes through China. Terminal 2 serves domestic and regional flights. The newest, Terminal 3, opened together with the new runway in May of 2012, is the international terminal able to handle 22 million passengers a year - twice as many as Terminals 1 and 2 combined. China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines moved to this terminal when it became operational. Zuitou, Fangpo, Huokou, and Lishan are easy to get to from XIY.

There are in-airport hotels at the Xi'an Xianyang International Airport. The Xi’an Traveler Star Leisure Hotel is located inside Terminal 3 on the mezzanine, opposite international booking in counter J. You can also stay at the Regal Airport Hotel Xi’an, which is directly connected to Terminal 3 via link bridge. There are even excellent hotels nearby the airport, including the 5-star Regal Airport Hotel Xian and the equally gorgeous Sheraton Xian Hotel.
