RachGia Airport – VKG RachGia, Vietnam
What used to be an airport utilized solely for military purposes had been converted to Rach Gia Airport (VKG), now a domestic airport that serves both civil and military. It is located in Rach Gia, Kien Giang province, Vietnam. It is situated 7kilometers from the city center making it accessible to the hub of the city’s activity. The airport was built in the 1950s by the Frenchto ensure administrative connection between Saigon and Southwest Vietnam. It is operated by the Southern Airports Services Company. It can handle a capacity of 200,000 passengers per year.

Rach Gia Airport has undergone several expansions since the 1970s, the most recent of whichwas in 2007 when a bigger passenger terminal building and apron covering of 5,500 square meterswere constructed. The passenger terminal with 2 floors includes a departure hall, arrival hall, VIP lounge, and flight planning office. It has a single runway measuring 1.500m x 30m.Currently, VASCO operates 2 flights a day to/from the Ho Chi Minh and PhuQuoc. VKG Airport’s territory also covers the city of Can Tho in southern Vietnam and the district of Co Do.
