Vals les Bains: A Quaint Little Town with History, Food, Parks, and More!
A commune located in the Ardeche department, Vals les Bains, France, does not disappoint when it comes to natural beauty. This charming little town is a “recommended detour” to tourists who come to Privas and other famous cities in the department. While not as popular as others, its local sights and attractions are extraordinary.
Best Time to Visit
Like most of the country, the busiest season for tourism in Vals les Bains is in summer. The weather is pleasant in the months of March, April, and May (spring) as well as June, July, and August (summer), which makes exploring the city an ideal activity. Also, children are on break from school so that the whole family can go on trips. Because of this, however, Vals les Bains hotels are usually fully booked, and hotel rates are more expensive. Tourists who don’t want to deal with crowds and aim to save on expenses can choose to visit instead during the low seasons (fall and winter).
What to Do & Area Attractions
When it comes to attractions and local sights, Vals les Bains has limited places to offer, but each of them is something to remember. Tourists are always in awe when they see such places as the hills of Le Calvaire, the museum Maison Champanhet or Thermes de Vals-Les-Bains, famous for their thermal baths. Visitors can stay at Villa Aimee, a 19th-century mansion that is now a hotel around 5 minutes' walk from the town center. Grand Hôtel des Bains is also a popular accommodation in town. It’s a Victorian-style hotel with an old mansion charm and modern comfort.
