Valencia de Alcantara: One of the Best Archeological Sites in Spain
Valencia de Alcantara is a town located in Extremadura, Spain. Only a river separates it from the Portuguese border. Due to its location, it has been part of many conflicts between Spain and Portugal such as the 1762 Battle of Valencia de Alcántara and the 1801 War of the Oranges. Despite being ravaged by war, it was able to preserve some Roman remains and medieval structures.
