Best Time to Visit
This public airport is operated by Finavia and was opened in 1938. The airport operations were closed down during the war and only reopened in 1945 after the airport’s building was completed for renovation. During the 1950s, the runway was extended while the building was expanded. A year later, the airport opened its first international connection to Sweden.
In 1971, the runway was extended again and VAA started operating flights from Finnair. However, the third and biggest expansion took place in 1993. Meanwhile, the renovation was finally completed in 2014 with a new baggage claim hall, additional shops, and a security control rearrangement. Vaasa Airport mainly serves the city of Vaasa.
