The airport can be accessed directly from the United States and passengers can use the bridge that spans the U.S.-Mexico border and into the terminal on the U.S. side. The airport opened in 1951 and was the replacement for Tijuana’s old airport, which was located in what is presently Aguacaliente Boulevard.
