Thika: Home of Kenya’s Breathtaking Waterfalls
Thika, Kenya is an industrial town in Kiambu County that officially became a municipality in 1963 when the country gained its independence. After World War II (WWII), it was used as a memorial burial site for the soldiers who died in battle. It is home to some of the country’s most famous waterfalls, such as Chania Falls, Fourteen Falls, and Thika Falls.

With a subtropical highland climate, the perfect time to visit Thika is during the months of February through May and July through December. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of February, June, and November. Tourists are least likely to visit in December.
What to Do & Area Attractions
One of the most famous tourist attractions in the area is Thika Municipal Stadium. It is a multi-purpose stadium that can accommodate up to 5,000 people at once. It is mostly used for football matches. The town is home to some of the most popular waterfalls in the country. As such, tourists should visit Chania Falls, which tumbles over a rocky cliff in front of the Blue Post Hotel’s restaurant. The hotel has a gated walkway leading to the base of the waterfalls. Another interesting site to visit is Fourteen Falls, which allows visitors to enjoy various outdoor activities like bird watching, boating, and fishing. Farther down the falls is a perfect site for team building activities. Also don’t forget to visit the nearby Christina Wangari Gardens.
