Sometimes referred to by its alternative name Mikhaylovskoye, the airport has an IATA geocode STW. It is operated by JSC, Airport Stavropol and serves medium-sized airliners with the capacity for 14 aircraft. It is likewise used as a small military training base. It originally opened in 1934 but passenger operations to Moscow only started in 1960 and after three years it was relocated to its present location.
