Sipalay: A Peek to Paradise
Sipalay, Philippines is a hidden seaside city in the province of Negros Occidental. Before it became a paradise, the city was just a lowland plain filled with vegetation and inhabited by Filipino ethnic tribes. It was during the Spanish colonization when people took notice of the charming coastal city. Aside from the beach, the town is also home to the country’s largest mining company.
Best Time to Visit
With the country experiencing a tropical monsoon climate, wet and dry seasons are very distinct over at Sipalay. Summer would be the best time to go for a swim in the city or explore the historic and heritage sites. You would not need to worry about overcrowding as tourists have yet to discover what a gem the place is. Moreover, Sipalay hotels still have affordable rates all throughout the year. During March of every year, the Convergence of Festival is held in the city.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Among the many beaches surrounding Sipalay, Punta Ballo Beach is without a doubt the best one. Not only can you go for a swim at its turquoise waters but boat rides, kayaks, and diving lessons are available as well. Head on to the Sipalay Eco Port where you can ride a boat if you wish to visit other islands in the country such as Danjugan Island. The said island has a great diving spot too, where you can observe corals and marine animals. There are tons of diving resorts and hotels along the coastline of Punta Ballo Beach. One of them is Easy Diving and Beach Resort. It has bungalow-style accommodations. Another one is the Artistic Diving Resort which is relatively more luxurious than the aforementioned hotel. Meanwhile, Punta Bulata Resort & Spa, also beachfront but offers a swimming pool and spa facilities.
