Sikhio: A World-Class Thai Experience
Sikhio, Thailand is a town in Nakhon Ratchasima founded in 1956 as a sanitary district. It officially became a sub district municipality in 1999. Finally, it became a town in 2008.
Best Time to Visit
The perfect time to visit Sikhio is during the months of November through February, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of January, July, and August. Tourists are least likely to visit in April. One of the most anticipated events in the area is Phimai Festival, which is held for 5 days in November. Primarily, it is a celebration of Phimai grandeur. More importantly, however, it aims to promote unique Thai culture and experience. Some highlights of the event include cultural performances, cooking demonstrations, do-it-yourself (DIY) and interactive workshops, exhibit on Phimai history, local cooking classes, and traditional arts and crafts fair.
What to Do & Area Attractions
One of the most popular attractions in the area is Mountain Creek Golf Course. Tourists may enjoy activities like camping, field archery, jogging, movies under the stars, swimming, table tennis, trekking, yoga, and of course, golf. Facilities include a 27-hole course, five-star hotel, housing estate, massage room, outdoor concert zone, sauna, shopping center, spa, swimming pool, among others. Another must-see destination nearby is Mueang Sema. An archaeological site, it is well-known as one of the few places surrounded by late-first-millennium moat. You can also visit the Mahawiharn Temple.
