Sheridan County Airport – SHR
A primary commercial service airport according to the United States Federal Aviation Administration is the Sheridan County Airport, located in Sheridan, Wyoming. Built in the late 1910s, it stood at a grass field runway and was solely used for air mail services and for the “Barnstormers,” a circus-like group of entertainers doing aerial acrobatics. The SHR-Sheridan County Airport boasts of the scenic views surrounding it, with the Bighorn Mountains clearly visible from within.
Best Time to Visit
The Sheridan County Airport has a two-level passenger terminal and two runways. In years 2011-2015, it was classified by the United States Federal Aviation Administration to be a primary commercial service airport. About 100 aircrafts, including single-engine, multi-engine, jet, helicopters, and gliders, are currently in hub at the airport. Key Lime Air handles the flights to and from Denver, Colorado as of now but by the 12th of January 2020, United Express will take over. From the airport, visit the cities of Story, Dayton, Shell and Banner.
