Setenil de las Bodegas: Dark Caves, Rocky Cliffs, and Quirky Homes
Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain, situated in the Andalucia province, is quite of an unusual town. It sits atop of a hill but unlike other hilltop towns, Setenil de las Bodegas has formed communities among the cliffs and hill caves, with some houses seemingly emerging from rocks. The town’s name is of Latin origin which then translates into “seven times no,” referring to the six failed attempts of Catholic authorities to take over the land and triumphantly doing so on the seventh.
Best Time to Visit
In the semi-temperate area of Setenil de las Bodegas, the weather is fairly great most of the year. But to fully enjoy a pleasant weather than will certainly not ruin your trip, the months between March and July are the ideal times to visit the town. As these months happen to be around the corner of summer season, you should expect a high volume of tourists and more expensive Setenil de las Bodegas hotels. On the other hand, the months of September to November also have good weather and fewer tourists.
