Sesriem: Admiring Its Epic Landscape
Sesriem, Namibia is a small community in the Namib Desert near the southern end of the Naukluft Mountains. If you’re traveling to Sesriem, better make it in the autumn season from March until May or spring (August to October). This is when the weather is cool both day and night and there are clearer skies. Because the area receives almost no rainfall, Sesriem and its environs are appealing all year round although September, April and August are the most popular months in terms of tourist arrivals. What to Do & Area Attractions
Take a guided nature walk to Elim Dune, one of the most photographed dunes in the world. Then march to Sesriem Canyon, the second most important tourist attraction in the area and a fascinating place for appreciating its many layers of exposed rock. Along Mt. Naukluftberge you can find privately-owned farms with mountain zebras and leopards. Picking a place to stay isn’t really difficult since there are many good options. The Desert Quiver Camp provides self-catering accommodation and near the Sossusvlei. The Hoodia Desert Lodge is snugged in a remote desert area on the banks of a river while Sossusvlei Lodge is within walking distance to Nauklauft Park.
