San Pedro de Atacama has the best weather in the months of September through April. Tourists usually flock the town in the months of January, April, and November. In late June, locals celebrate Fiesta de San Pedro to commemorate their patron saint, Saint Peter. It is observed through midnight processional and dancing from midnight to morning. Then, in July, locals celebrate Festival of the Virgen del Carmen at Atacama Desert. They observe it through music and dance influenced by Catholic and Incan cultures.

San Pedro de Atacama is home to RP Gustavo Le Paige Archaeological Museum, which has a collection of more than 380,000 pre-Columbian artifacts. Many tourists visit the town just to see the museum. Another popular attraction in the town is Church of San Pedro de Atacama, a Catholic church built in the 17th century during the Spanish colonial period. In 1951, it was named a historical monument.
