Ratnagiri Airport - RTC
Ratnagiri Airport is a public airport located in Ratnagiri, India. it sits at the area called Mirjole inside the state of Maharashtra, India. RTC Airport was built in 1973 by the Government of India. However, after being unsatisfactorily finished, the construction was transferred to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. The contractor upgraded, expanded and maintained the airport in 1997. It was later on handed to the Indian Coast Guard to set up the air station. The airport is not being used for any passenger scheduled or chartered flights.
Best Time to Visit
Still under the management of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, RTC-Ratnagiri Airport is 93 meters above mean sea level. It also serves the areas of Maharashtra and the Konkan Division. The Indian Coast Guard is developing the airport to a full-fledged air station that will play one of the most important roles in the search and rescue operation and maritime surveillance of the region. There is no scheduled air service available in the airport. Ganpatipule is a nearby town you can check out. It is loved for its beaches, open air museums and Hindu Temples. The sandy coast of Malgund Beach is one of the fun and interesting places to see in the area. A lighthouse, British built can be also seen on the northern area.
