Presque Isle International Airport is a public airport centrally located in the northwest part of Presque Isle, in Aroostook County, Maine, USA. It serves the Presque Isle sector plus some portions of northern Maine and northwestern New Brunswick. Formally known as Northern Maine Regional Airport, it is considered the region’s prime aviation facility for commercialand private purposes. With the code PQI, the airport dates back to World War II when the federal government established an air base for planes. Redevelopment happened in 1961, after the U.S. Air Force closed the former air base. In 2018, over 25,000 passengers used the facility.
