Porter: Interesting Romanesque Architecture & Stunning Churches
Portomarin, Spain, is one of the municipalities located in Lugo. The region is part of the pilgrimage route to the Camino de Santiago and is popularly known as French Way. Interestingly, most of the historic buildings in the old village were moved brick by brick from the to the new town. This includes one of the most visited local attractions in the region, the Church of San Juan of Portomarin. During seasons when the Belesar reservoir is at a low level, you can still take a glimpse of the waterfront and old bridge that stood in the old village.

What to Do & Area Attractions
One of our favorite local attractions is the Church of San Nicolao of Portomarin. This church is a temple-fortress that is under the Order of St. John of Jerusalem and one of the scenic places to take a nice souvenir picture in the region.
The Pousada de Portomarin is a charming 3-star hotel located near the Ponte Nova and the San Nicolas de Portomarin. Another 3-star hotel in the region is the Hotel Balneario Oca Rio Pambre. This accommodation is set on a 5 hectares land that overlooks the Pambre River and is considered to be a rural spa resort situated in the more rural areas in the region.
