Perry: City of Wrestlers
Originally named Wharton after a train station, Perry, Oklahoma was born out of a land run in 1893 that opened the Cherokee Strip for settlers. It is the county seat of Noble County, Oklahoma, and is well-known for Ditch Witch construction equipment and high school wresting excellence. Perry also plays host to the longest running parade in the state: the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration. Visitors preferring to fly in can go to the nearest airports, Ponca City Municipal Airport in nearby Ponca City, or Stillwater Regional Airport, which is a 34-minute drive away in Stillwater, OK.
