Minangkabau International Airport – PDG Padang
Minangkabau International Airport uses PDG as its airport code, which stands for its location in Padang. PDG is located in the province of West Sumatra in Padang, Indonesia 14 miles from the city center. In 2005, Minangkabau International Airport opened its doors to the public and replaced Tabing Airport, which is also located in Padang. The airport was named in honor of the Minangkabau ethnic tribe residing in the region.
PDG is owned by the Indonesian government and run by PT Angkasa Pura II. This airport is a focus city for Lion Air, Garuda Indonesia, and Citilink.
Best Time to Visit
When PDG replaced Tabing Airport, the airport was relocated since the old terminal is unable to meet the flight safety requirements. Tabing Airport, on the other hand, was converted into a military-based and was renamed Sutan Sjahrir Air Force Base. PDG-Padang became the third airport in the country to be constructed from scratch. The government, meanwhile, is expanding this airport to be able to accommodate 5.9 million passengers.
This international airport has domestic and international flights. Padang and Bungus are the primary cities served by this airport.
