The airport was founded by Richard Newhouse as one of his many aviation projects in 1911 and was then purchased in March 29, 1985 by Princeton Aero Corporation headed by the Nierenberg family, Kupper Airport’s fixed-based operator for more than 18 years. Today, it handles the air traffic operations of Princeton and its surrounding cities of Bayside, Flushing and Jackson Heights.
