Orthez: A Leisurely Road to A Pilgrimage Site
Snugged northwest of Pau is Orthez, France, a town in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of south-western France. It is a historically significant area because it serves as a pilgrimage town on the pilgrim route that leads to Santiago de Compostela in neighboring Spain. During the early Middle Ages, Orthez was known as an important town in the region is the capital of Béarn for two centuries.

Although a relatively serene town, Orthez gets busy with the arrival of tourists in July, February, and January.
