Oia: An Island-Like Town in Galicia
Oia, Spain in the province of Pontevedra is a town where the 11th century Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Oia is situated. THe monastery was a Cistercian monastery and has been declared as a cultural landmark in 1931. The town is part of the Galicia region in the southwestern part of the country. The province of Pontevedra is a coastal province that opens to the Atlantic Ocean. Towns included in the province have access to sandy beaches and has oceanic climate. Oia has the best beaches because of its island-like land that is surrounded by bodies of water.
