Narvik Airport, Framnes – NVK
Narvik Airport, Framnes was regional airport located in Framnes, Norway. It closed in April 2017 due to the construction of the Halogaland Bridge, which was opened in 2018. Flights from this old airport was transferred to the Harstad-Narvik Airport, Evenes, it now serves as the primary airport for the city of Narvik. Avinor, a state-owned limited company operating most of the airports in Norway, operates the public airport. Narvik Airport served the cities of Evenskjer, Harstad and Krottoya. Before it closed, it served 27,142 passengers in 2014.
Best Time to Visit
Narvik Airport was served by a seaplane service as recently as 1971. The Norwegian airline Wideroe operated in the airport till it closed. Construction on Narvik Airport, Framnes was completed in 1972, one year before the Evenes airport was completed. The terminal building was completed in 1986 and was nationalized in 1997. The closure of the Narvik Airport was supported by the government in deference to the building of Halogaland Bridge, which shortens the travel from Navrik to Harstad-Narvik Airport, Evenes. Construction on the bridge started in 2014.
