Morella: A Walled City with a Mediterranean Touch
Morella, Spain has already developed since it was affected by plague in the late 17th century, which was said to have been cured by the Virgin Mary. It is an ancient walled city in the province of Castellon, Valencian Community, Spain and the administrative center of Ports in the Maestrat region. Presently, this astonishing city is labeled as one of the most beautiful cities of Spain due to its historic buildings, hotels and restaurants.
Best Time to Visit
Although it is recommended to visit a place on its dry season, two of Morella’s festival fall on its wet season from December to February namely the Festival of San Julian on January and Morella Carnival on February or March. Fiesta de Agosto is a month-long celebration involving singing and dancing. It is expected that tourists flock the city during these periods. You can either take the route passing through Valencia or Castellon when going to Morella, but the latter is the shorter travel.
