Malmo Airport– MMX Malmo
Located in the municipality of Malmo, Sweden, the MMX-Malmo-Sturup Airport lies about 28 kilometers east of Malmo and 26 kilometers southeast of Lund. Situated within a three-hour travel circle of 40 percent of the Swedish population, it is the fourth busiest airport in Sweden, handling over two million passengers a year. However, despite being roughly the same distance to Malmo as Denmark’s Copenhagen Airport, Malmo residents generally use the latter for international travel. Originally called Sturup Airport, MMX was constructed in 1970 to replace the aging Bulltofta Airport that had served the region since 1923. It was completed two years later and inaugurated on December 3, 1972 as Bulltofta officially closed. It was renamed Malmo Airport in 2007.
