Mexico City International Airport – MEX Mexico City
Situated in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico, the Mexico City International Airport typically handles over 100,000 passengers a day, to and from more than 100 destinations across 4 continents. Officially known as Benito Juárez International Airport, it is Mexico’s and Latin America’s busiest in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft movement. Owned by Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México, it is run by the government-owned Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares that operates 22 other airports throughout Mexico. The airport is five kilometers (3.5 miles) east from Downtown Mexico City.

MEX-Mexico City International Airport is served by 30 domestic and international passenger airlines, as well as 17 cargo carriers. It is the main hub for Mexico’s largest airline, Aeromexico, and is also a hub for Aeromar, Interjet, Volaris, and SkyTeam. MEX has two terminals separated by runways. Terminal 1 opened in 1958 and has been expanded several times, most recently in 2004. It has 33 jetways, 10 airside halls, 9 landside check-in halls, 11 mobile lounges, and 22 baggage claim carousels. The newer and more modern Terminal 2 opened in 2007 and was formally inaugurated by former president, Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, on March 26, 2008. It has 23 jetways, two airside (one each for domestic and international) halls, three landside check-in halls, and 15 baggage claim carousels. MEX is the ideal starting off point for travelers to Venustiano Carranza, San Rafael, and El Guardia.

There are several hotels right at the Mexico City International Airport (MEX). The first choice will be the Hilton Mexico City Airport, which is at the International Arrivals area on the third floor of Terminal 1. They offer free shuttle service to Terminal 2, which in turn, houses the Capital O Aeropuerto Terminal 2. Also at MEX airport is the posh Courtyard Mexico City Airport, which is accessible via covered walkway to Terminal 2.
