Mandalay International Airport is a public airport owned by the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. It serves the region of Mandalay, Myanmar and one of the three international airports in Myanmar. MDL - Mandalay International Airport is operated by the Mitsubishi Corporation, JALUX Inc., SPA Project Management Ltd. after winning a 30 year bid. Prior to the modernization of the Yangon International Airport, MDL Airport was originally the most modern and largest airport in Myanmar. The airport also serves as the main base of the Golden Myanmar Airlines.
Best Time to Visit
MDL-Mandalay Intl. has the longest operational runway in the whole of Southeast Asia, 4267 meters in length. The terminal has a capacity of 3 million passengers in a year. Seasonal charters flights served by the Myanmar Airways International to Hangzhou, Hefei, Nachang and Fuzhou are also available in the airport. From Mandalay city, it takes an hour by car to reach the airport. Amarapura, the former capital of Myanmar is one of the closest local destinations to MDL Airport. It is a great place to see ancient monasteries and tourist destinations. There are also several local attractions to see in nearby Mandalay.
