José María Córdova International Airport –MDE Medellin, Colombia
The José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), located 20 kilometers from Medellín, Colombia is the second largest and busiest in the country. It is named after a Colombian army general and was formerly known as Rionegro Airport. The airport shares the runway with the nearby Air Force military base. In 2018, a total of 8,036,411 passengers were registered. In recent years, a steady surge in passenger traffic has been noted as well as an increase in the number of airlines using the airport.

The airport terminal consists of three levels both for domestic and international flights, separated into two areas. The lowest level is for arrivals, the second level is for check-in, security, immigration as well as the boarding gates while the food court can be found on the third level. It is home to 13 different airlines offering direct flights to and from more than 20 destinations in Europe, North, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. Among the busiest destinations from the airport are Panamá, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale. Areas around Medellin like Envigado, Marinilla and San Antonio de Prado can be easily reached from the airport.
