LagoAgrio Airport - LGQ LagoAgrio, Ecuador
The Lago Agrio Airport is an airport serving Lago Agrio which also goes by the name Nueva Loja, the capital of Sucumbíos Province in Ecuador. It is about 3 kilometers east of town. The airport serves as a jump off point to Cuyabeno Reserve and Limoncocha Biological Reserve, both popular destinations among tourists. It was closed briefly in 2009 for the rehabilitation of the runways.
Best Time to Visit
The LGQ-Lago Agrio Airport occupies an unassuming two-level passenger terminal structure. Upgrade of facilities like the construction of a more spacious building that will house the arrival and departure areas is in progress. Presently, the only flights to Lago Agrio come from Quito through local air carriers, VIP and TAME airlines. TAME operates daily flights between Quito and Lago Agrio while VIP offers two daily flights. About 2 hours away is Coca, a transport hub that serves asthe last city before journeying deep into the rainforest of Parque Nacional Yasuní and into the Amazon basin.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Since the town is a gateway to other nearby tourist spots, there are a couple of hotels not too far from the airport. Hotel Araza is merely 8 minutes off while both the Green Hotel Arque Inn and the Hotel Grand Palais can be traveled in 10 minutes or less.
The Francisco de Orellana Airport (OCC) is an airport serving the nearby Coca, the capital of Orellana Province in Ecuador. It is located is within the town and lies close to the Coca River.
