Lawrence, New York is a village located in the southwest corner of Hempstead in Nassau County. The region is a member of the group called the "Five Towns" made up of the villages of Cedarhurst, Woodsburgh, Woodmere and Inwood. Also known as Old Lawrence or Back Lawrence, it is mainly made up of mansions, beach side villas, large homes and former plantation areas. Several homes, which go as far as the American Revolution, can be found in the area. Popular shoe designer Steve Madden is from this area.

Months from June to September are the busiest time of the year, also one of the most expensive to be in one of the Lawrence, NY hotels located in the city. The Annual Rock Hall County Fair is one of the most celebrated musical events in the region. The celebration is hosted annually during the month of October.
