KertehAirport – KTE Airport
Kerteh Airport is a private airport located in Kerteh, Malaysia. It is owned by Petronas and is operated by the Senai Airport Terminal Services SdnBhd, the same operator of the Senai International Airport. KTE is a small airport that caters mostly to helicopter flights and charter plane flights for Petronas staff.
Best Time to Visit
The airport is considered small and has one single runway measuring 4,469 feet long. The airport was built for the purpose of airlifting Petronas employees to the many oil platforms that are located 62 to 124 miles off in the South China Sea. Though the airport is small, its runway is able to accommodate a Boeing 737-400 aircraft. But rather than large aircrafts, majority of the airport’s movement is because of the Malaysia Helicopter Services. KTE Airport also used to have a fixed-wing charter service on weekdays but has since ceased operation. Taman Rotan Tunggal, Teras, and Temerloh are some of the areas located near the Kerteh and its airport.
