Gangneung Air Base – KAG Gangneung
The Gangneung Air Base is a military airbase situated in Gangneung, Gangwon-Do, South Korea. It is owned and operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force. The airport is holding the Republic of Korea Air Force’s 18th fighter wing. The United States Air Force designated the base as K-18 during the Korean War. Gangneung Air Base served commercial air service before but was closed before the opening of the new Yangyang International Airport.
Best Time to Visit
The Gangneung Air Base (KAG) has a 9,000-feet concrete runway. Abai Villageis situated just a few minutes away from KAG airport and is visited by tourists to hike the Seorak Mountain. The city also sees several tourists who come to try the squid stuffed with a mixture of clear noodles, squid, vegetables, and tofu, called the Abai Sundae.
