Ivrea: Industrial City of the 20th Century
Ivrea, Italy is a town in Turin inhabited since the Neolithic age. Known as “Industrial City of the 20th Century”, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018. Accordingly, it exhibits the ideal, modern relationship between architecture and industrial production.

The best time to visit Ivrea is from April through October for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually March, June, and May. Tourists are least likely to visit in December. One of the most anticipated events in town is Carnival, which is held 40 days before Easter. Held for three days, dubbed as “fat carnival days,” it centers on the famous Battle of the Oranges. Another event to look forward to in town is the Patron Festival of St. Savino, which is held every week of July 7. One of the highlights of the event is horse fair, which features carriage exhibits and horse shows.

Castle of Ivrea is one of the most well-known attractions in town. Established during the rule of Amadeus VI of Savoy, it once served as a prison. Today, it houses different exhibits. Tourists should also visit the Cathedral of Ivrea, which originated from a church constructed in the fourth century. Its neoclassical facade today was established in the 19th century.
