The Ilheus Jorge Amado Airport, a public airport in the city of Ilheus, Brazil, was named after one of the country’s most prominent modern writers: Jorge Amado de Faria. Back in the year 1930s, the airport was known as Aeroporto do Pontal and serviced solely the seaplanes of Syndicato Condor, Brazil’s second oldest airline.
