Haiku Meilan International Airport is situated in Haikou, Hainan in China. It is the biggest and busiest airport in Hainan and was also named the 17th busiest airport in the country in 2017. This public international airport replaced Dayingshan Airport and opened in 1999. It is owned by Haikou Meilan International Airport and is operated by HNA Infrastructure. The airport is a main hub for Tianjin Airlines and Hainan Airlines. In 2018, 24,123,582 passengers used the Haiku Meilan International Airport (HAK) while 165,186 aircraft movement and 168,622.2 tonnes of cargo were recorded. With a space over 60,200 square meters, the airport’s main terminal efficiently runs with 11 security checkpoints and 45 check-in counters. There are many tourist destinations around the airport. Haikou boasts of arcaded streets with shops filled to the brim as well as historic temple sites. In the nearby Meilan district, you can explore Dongzhai Harbor and Baishamen Park.
